Apple shop in Zurich Evacuated as iPhone Battery Overheats
An overheated iPhone electric battery injured a repairman in an Apple shop in Zurich and caused the evacuation of around 50 individuals from the store on Tuesday because of smoke, Swiss police said.
Zurich authorities said the event took place as restoration employee was getting rid of battery pack, which overheated and burned his hand slightly.
“at exactly the same time, there was clearly a small build up of smoke, which resulted in around 50 consumers and workers needing to keep the business enterprise briefly,” an authorities declaration said.
“The staff reacted well and properly. It sprinkled quartz sand throughout the overheated electric battery so that the smoke might be contained and sucked completely after changing regarding the ventilation.”
Seven men and women obtained hospital treatment but would not need to be hospitalised.
Forensic specialists had been examining just what caused the event, police said.
Apple had no instant remark beyond the authorities statement.
